Things to Do Before and After Nose Surgery

Rhinoplasty is the term that is used for the surgery of the nose. Any surgery that is used to change the shape and size of the nose comes under Rhinoplasty. You can make any corrections in the shape of your nose by nose reduction surgery. This can be done either for cosmetic reasons or for medical issues that cause breathing issues. You can make changes in the nose by doing surgery on nose skin, bone or cartilage. Many people focus on what to get and expect after a nose surgery, but they do not educate themselves on what to do before and after a nose surgery. The nose is one of the most sensitive parts of your body. Its small injury can also take a few days to recover and cause a lot of irritation and pain.

Do's Before Nose Surgery

The following things we should do before Rhinoplasty will help us in our surgery.

Get lots of rest!

Our body needs more energy to heal after surgery. When we are well rested, it will set us up for a more comfortable recovery and the best healing results and women at home using phones and laptops.

Getting Extra Hydrated

In the days leading up to our Rhinoplasty, we should drink more water than usual and say about twice as much as we usually do. It’s important to keep our body hydrated for the surgery process.

Cleaning Face

Before Rhinoplasty, it is very important to keep the skin clean and clear prior to surgery. Properly wash the face twice every day with a gentle cleanser and dry it properly. We can gently exfoliate every other day also, to help get rid of dead skin as well. It will help us for better results in our whole surgery process.

Preparing the Meals Ahead of Time

After Rhinoplasty, it usually takes weeks to get back to our regular routine and activities. We should make things easier on ourselves by preparing some meals in advance if we can, so we can focus on relaxing and recovering after the surgery. Our meals usually affect our health, so when we are sick or unhealthy, the first thing we have to do is to make our diet regular to avoid future problems in our health.

Avoid Drinking Alcohol (A Week Before Nose Surgery)

Even if our nerves are a bit frayed because of upcoming plastic surgery, we should still abstain from drinking alcohol. Not only will it dehydrate our body, but it will also decrease our immune system's strength and impair our recovery in general as well. So we should look for alternative forms of relaxation for the days leading up to our surgery process.

Do’s After Nose Surgery

The following things that we should do after nose surgery.

Keeping Head Elevated:

When we sleep on our side after Rhinoplasty, it isn’t just uncomfortable; rather, it can also prolong our recovery time by causing additional bruises and swellings. More frighteningly, it can displace our noses. To avoid this, we should keep our head elevated at night for 6 weeks following surgery. One of the easiest ways to do this is to prop the head up on two or three pillows or use a foam wedge too. When we sleep in a recliner, it also works well.

If we tend to toss and turn, we can also keep our heads in place with a travel pillow or by surrounding ourselves with rolled-up towels.

Getting Plenty of Rest

The congestion that we feel after surgery may make it more difficult to fall asleep, but we should know that rest is a vital part of the recovery process. Our body uses too much energy to heal itself, and getting a solid seven or eight hours of sleep each night gives your body time to restore that energy. So to recover from nose surgery, we should sleep for a maximum of time to heal faster.

Do not Blow your Nose!

After surgery, we are going to experience some congestion for a few weeks, maybe even a few months. Swollen nasal tissues usually cause this feeling. So we should resist the urge to blow our nose and consult with our doctor about using a saline nasal spray to moisturise our nasal passages until the swelling goes down gently. We can resume blowing our nose after 6 weeks from surgery.
